I struggled with putting the lyrics to this song on my site. Words like horrifying, disgusting, classless and degrading come to mind. But after hearing it on all the major radio stations, bleeped out of course, I decided that it wasn’t an option to ignore it. You need to see these lyrics and you need to have a discussion with your kids about them.
This song hit the top 10 Billboard Hot 100 and you should know the real lyrics. I’ve highlighted a few that are sure to turn your stomach. I don’t ask my kids not listen to certain songs because I know that is like throwing a long c note of gasoline on it. However, I did suggest that this song was the bottom of the trash pile and I would very much like it if they would choose not to download it.
Other Tyga titles? Lapdance, Make it Nasty, MothaFucka Up and Potty Mouth (that is one giant understatement.)
Tyga did an interview with Complex.com in which he says, “I want to make people feel certain ways when they listen to my music.” Well. I do. Like taking away all of your privileges and locking you in your room.

I highly recommend you print out the lyrics and have your teen/tween read them with you in the room. I don’t usually recommend this, but this song has me all in a tissy and I believe the lyrics are so disgusting a point must be made with your kids.
Songversation Qs:
1. What are your thoughts after reading the lyrics?
2. The problem I have with this song is not the curse words, though my ears are aching, the real problem is how horrifyingly degrading this is to women. For boys: Would you listen to it around your girlfriend or sister? Why or why not? For girls: Would you want your boyfriend to think these lyrics were appropriate? Why or why not?
3. I wish this kind of music would go away, but I know it won’t. It will probably only get worse. My advice to you is know what you are listening to. Don’t just follow the masses. Decide if this is something you want to support. If not, turn it off when it comes on the radio and don’t spend the $1.00 supporting it on iTunes.

Oh for the love. How is this song on the radio? I am really feeling old because I wanna say, "music wasn’t like this in my day." But it was, and I listened to it. Yikes!
This song is bad news! There’s so many things wrong with it. For the reasons you’ve mentioned, of course. But I’m more concerned about it being qualified as a song. This dude could have just as easily kept this as a conversation for him and his friends! Not radio worthy… and I’ve actually heard the radio version. I weep for humanity!
Thanks Stefanie for raising awareness about what our kdis are listening to and how we as moms need to have this conversation with our children at an early age about respecting women/girls.
luv
Thanks for taking the time to read the post. It is important that we talk about these kind of lyrics. Glad you agree!
I agree. Just trash. How does this kind of crap make it to mainstream music. Sad commentary on the times.
I felt like that writing the post too. I don’t think our music was this bad. At least not to this degree of disrespecting women.
I am assuming you love the post not the song
I only point this out because I found it comedic, but the lyrics aren’t “Pull out my rags,” it’s “Pull out my racks.” As in money.
