Best Qualities: The softest kindest heart, hysterical and quite charming when he tries.’s "promotion ceremony" was really sweet.  I confess I cried a tear or two.  This photo looks like he is saying, “HOLY CRAP, I did it!”  

Right after graduation, we hit the road.  After a long day of driving, Keenan and I pulled into Park City at 12:00 a.m. It took us exactly eleven hours to get here.  In order to bribe Keenan into driving with me, JJJ aka: Depends on my mood.
What I love:He looks good in a cowboy hat or a business suit and wears them both daily. But not together, that would be creepy.
Hobbies: Building furniture, remodeling homes, playing sports with our kids, laughing with me. Seriously. went out and got an ac adapter for the car so that he could play Xbox the entire way.  Twenty minutes into our drive, it quit working.  I held my breath expecting an absolute tirade.  

Instead what I got was something I have never seen.  A “no big deal” side of my teenager.  OMG. This must be what other parents mean when they tell me how wonderful he is at their house.  Even more amazing, we actually talked. He shared things about friends and family and his anxiety about heading to high school.  He listened as I told him stories about my childhood and asked questions.  Apparently all you need to do to get your teen to open up is drive eleven hours together in the car.  Worth every mile.

Throughout the day I would call J and get updates and always got the same report, “the kids are doing great, haven’t lost one yet.”  Though I will take a moment here to tell you that at one point when I called he was sitting in the airport getting his shoes shined and reading the paper.  When I asked where ColtonColton aka: Moose, Duece, Colt, CJ

Best Qualities: Wakes up with a smile every day and walks to the beat of his own drum. were he said, “Playing on the human conveyor belt,” and he wasn’t kidding. The shit dads get by with.  If that had been me, I would be on the front page of the newspaper for neglecting my children in an airport.

With everything going so well, I feel like we are in the calm before the storm.  We had a great day yesterday, the boys are all being nice to each other and playing together, J made breakfast for all of us and took the boys out for a walk so I could get some work done.  It seems like at any point, the dog will get diarrhea, Keenan and Noah will be rolling across the floor in a wrestling match while Colton is busy turning on the gas stove that has no childproofing.  After all, if it stays this calm and peaceful, how would I justify a 4:00 cocktail?
