The education environment has become an increasingly competitive place, and now more than ever parents are seeking additional support to ensure their children are successful in school.
With school starting again in just a few weeks, it’s a good time to review some behaviors parents can watch for once their child starts back to determine if they need outside support in their schoolwork.
It’s especially important to identify these behaviors early because it’s much easier to make changes sooner rather than after weeks of poor performance.
Below please find a list of behaviors that struggling students often exhibit. Watch for these signs to help determine if your child may need additional assistance from a tutor.
Does My Child Need Help In School?
1. They do everything right, but still don’t understand. Your child works hard and studies, but he or she still can’t understand all of the concepts; this can often be in a particular class or subject. Study for tests, but doesn’t perform well.
2.No matter how much you review material with your child prior to a test, he or she still struggles when test time comes.
3.Trouble concentrating. Your child acts up in class and isn’t paying attention especially in particular subjects.
4.Unfinished work. Your child will work on some of their homework willingly, but actively avoids certain areas.
5.Becoming emotional. Your child becomes emotional about schoolwork, in particular if he or she displays signs of being sad, frustrated, angsty or even angry about school.
If these behaviors sound like your child, you may want to look into getting a tutor. With the right tutor on hand, students can identify and focus on their greatest areas of improvement and work to not only master their course content, but build long term academic skills.
